February 2, 2025

At 8:34pm on February 2, 2025, Oelwein Police arrested Timothy Devan Postel, 41, of Quasqueton.  Postel was arrested on five Fayette County warrants for original charges of Eluding - Class C Felony, Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Offense - Class D Felony, Interference with Official Acts - Simple Misdemeanor, Reckless Driving, Driving While Suspended, and Failure to Maintain Control.  This arrest was made in the 800 block of 1st Ave SE.

February 1, 2025

At 10:39pm on January 30, 2025, Oelwein Police charged Tonya Auzetta Stewart, 18, of Oelwein with Driving While Revoked.  Stewart was cited and given a summons to court following a traffic stop in the 2200 block of S Frederick Ave.

 

At 12:58am on January 31, 2025, Oelwein Police charged Justin Kyle Greene, 31, of Oelwein with Driving While Suspended.  Greene was cited and given a summons to court following a traffic stop in the 200 block of 1st Ave SE.

 

At 12:38pm on January 31, 2025, Oelwein Police investigated a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of 1st Ave SE and 2nd St SE.  A black 2012 Chevrolet Sonic driven by Oscar Hicks collided with a silver 2008 Nissan Altima driven by Anthony Newton.  Initial estimates of damages were $3,000 to each vehicle.  Hicks acknowledged being at fault and was cited with a warning for Improper Lane Change.

 

At 1:03am on February 1, 2025, Oelwein Police arrested Brian Lynn Rhines, 43, of Oelwein.  Rhines was arrested on a Buchanan County warrant for original charges of Ongoing Criminal Conduct (Facilitate Criminal Network) - Class B Felony and 3rd Degree Theft - Aggravated Misdemeanor.  This arrest was made in the 300 block of 4.5 St SW.

January 30, 2025

At 11:28am on January 30, 2025, Oelwein Police charged a 15-year-old male juvenile with Minor Using Tobacco/Vape Device - 2nd Offense.  The juvenile was cited and released to guardians following a report of a student possessing a vape device at Oelwein High School.  This matter has been referred to Juvenile Court.

 

At 3:43pm on January 30, 2025, Oelwein Police investigated a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Rock Island Rd and 14th St SE.  A red 1998 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Brady Denny collided with a blue 2012 Honda Civic driven by Jacob Wyant.  Initial estimates of damages were $2,500 to the vehicle driven by Denny and $4,000 to the vehicle driven by Wyant.  Denny was cited for Failure to Yield Upon Making a Left Turn.

January 29, 2025

At 3:38pm on January 29, 2025, Oelwein Police charged William James Kajewski, 68, of Oelwein, with Illegal Open Burning.  Kajewski was given a citation for the offense following Oelwein Police and the Oelwein Fire Department responding to an uncontrolled burn in the 900 block of Rock Island Rd.

January 27, 2025

On January 27, 2025, at approximately 12:11am, Oelwein officers arrested Alicia Arlene Ricchio, 36, of Oelwein. Ricchio was arrested on two Fayette County Warrants. The first warrant being, Possession of a Controlled Substance – 3rd or subsequent offense. The second warrant was for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. This arrest took place in the 10 block of 6th Avenue N.E. following a noise complaint.

January 23, 2025

On January 22, 2025, at approximately 7:30pm, Oelwein officers were called to the intersection of 4th St and 5th Avenue S.E. for a two-vehicle accident. Upon investigation it was learned that a Grey 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Sheyla Willenborg,22, of Oelwein collided with a Grey 2013 Chevrolet Cruze driven by Hunter DeHaven,17, of Oelwein. Initial damage estimates were $500 to the vehicle driven by DeHaven and $1,500 to the vehicle driven by Willenborg. Also damaged in the accident was a city street sign valued at approximately $500. As a result of the investigation, DeHaven was issued a citation for Failure to Provide Proof of Insurance.

January 17, 2025

On January 17, 2024, Oelwein Officers arrested Isiah Dean Heidt, 27, of Oelwein on a Bremer County Warrant. This arrest took place in the 600 block of 4th St S.W. following a traffic stop.

January 16, 2025

At 9:23am on January 16, 2025, Oelwein Police investigated a report of a hit and run motor vehicle accident at the intersection of S Frederick Ave and 2nd St SE.  Eyewitness testimony and video footage revealed a tan 2001 Buick LeSabre driven by Gregory Doyle collided with a white Ford E450 bus driven by Richard Simpson.  Initial estimates of damages were $1,000 to the vehicle driven by Doyle and $2,000 to the vehicle driven by Simpson.  Doyle was given two citations, one for Failure to Obey Stop Sign and Yield Right of Way and one for Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability.

 

At around 11:00am on January 16, 2025, Oelwein Police charged a 12-year-old male juvenile and a 16-year-old male juvenile each with Minor Using Tobacco/Vape Device - 1st offense.  Both juveniles were given a citation for the violation following reports of minors in possession of a vape device in the Middle School and High School.  Both juveniles were released to guardians and the matter has been referred to Juvenile Court.

January 15, 2025

At 1:06am on January 15, 2025, Oelwein Police arrested Billy Joe Spitzer, 52, of Oelwein.  Spitzer was arrested on a Fayette County warrant for an original charge of 3rd Degree Burglary - Class D Felony.  This arrest was made in the 100 block of 1st St SW.

January 13, 2025

On January 13th, 2025, Oelwein Police Officers arrested Christopher Austin-Tyler White, 28, of Oelwein and Hannah Leigh Wright, 26, of Oelwein. White was charged with Violation of No Contact/Protective Order-Contempt. Wright was Charged with Violation of No Contact/Protective Order-Contempt. Wright was also arrested on a Fayette County Warrant for original charge of Violation of No Contact/Protective Order-Contempt. These arrests took place in the 500 block of 1st St S.E. after a report of a possible Domestic Disturbance in progress.
