At 11:12 a.m. on May 20, 2024, Oelwein Police cited Dustin Wayne Sanders, 34, of Strawberry Point. Sanders was cited for Driving While License Suspended. Sanders was cited following a traffic stop near the intersection of 10th St S.E. and Outer Road.
At 8:37 p.m. Oelwein Police arrested Zachary Neal Moser, 34, of Waverly, on charges of Driving while License Barred (aggravated misdemeanor), Operating While Under the Influence 1st offense (Serious Misdemeanor), Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd or subsequential offense (Class D Felony), and Unlawful Possession of a Prescription Drug (Serious Misdemeanor). Moser was also cited for Motorcycle/Moped License Violation, Operating a Non-Registered vehicle, Failure to provide proof of Financial Liability, and Operating a Motorcycle without a License. These charges were made following a traffic stop in the 2300 block of South Frederick Avenue.
At 7:30 p.m. Oelwein Police arrested Anthony James Taylor, aged 41, of Oelwein, on a charge of Interference with Official Acts. This arrest took place in the 200 block of 8th Avenue S.E.
At 9:34pm on May 16, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested Ashton John Seeders, 19, of Oelwein. Seeders was charged with Reckless Driving, and was cited and released following a traffic stop in the 10 block of 8th Ave SE.
At 10:33pm on May 17, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested Kylie Nicole Meaney, 28, of Oelwein. Meaney was charged with Driving While Barred. This arrest was made following a traffic stop in the 10 block of 3rd Ave NW.
At 11:42pm on May 17, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested Penny Sue Chase, 56, of Oelwein. Chase was arrested on a Buchanan County warrant for an original charge of Failure to Appear. This arrest was made following a traffic stop in the 2200 block of Rock Island Rd.
On May 15, 2024, at 9:14 p.m., Oelwein Officers arrested Damien Dijon Anderson, aged 36, of Oelwein, on charges of Possession of Controlled Substance, Marijuana-1st Offense, a Serious Misdemeanor, and Interference with Official Acts, a Simple Misdemeanor. These charges are a result of a disturbance reported in the 10 block of 6th Street N.W.
At 4:31 p.m. on May 10th, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested Mellony Jean Harris, 35, of Oelwein, in the 1300 block of South Frederick Ave. Harris was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance (2nd offense) - aggravated misdemeanor, and Disorderly Conduct- simple misdemeanor.
Two NE Side Search Warrants Served
At approximately 12:57 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, the Oelwein Police Department executed a search warrant in the 200 block of 1st Ave. NE in Oelwein. During the course of the search warrant, illegal controlled substances were located and seized. The following subject was arrested and charged:
Stephanie Ann Ferguson, 32, of Oelwein:
Child Endangerment, an Aggravated Misdemeanor
Possession of Controlled substance- Marijuana, a Serious Misdemeanor
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor
Ferguson was taken into custody and transported to the Fayette County Jail pending an initial appearance. Additional charges are pending, and this is still under investigation. The Oelwein Police Department was assisted by the Fayette Police K-9 Unit.
At approximately 3:48 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, the Oelwein Police Department executed a search warrant in the 900 block of 1st Ave. NE in Oelwein. During the course of the search warrant, illegal controlled substances were located and seized. The following subject was arrested and charged:
Philip Daniel Trevino, 32, of Oelwein:
Child Endangerment, an Aggravated Misdemeanor
Possession of Controlled Substance- Marijuana 2nd Offense, a Serious Misdemeanor
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor
Trevino was taken into custody and transported to the Fayette County Jail pending an initial appearance. Additional charges are pending, and this case is still under investigation.
At 1:01pm on May 4, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested a 16-year-old female juvenile. The juvenile was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana) - Serious Misdemeanor and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Simple Misdemeanor. These charges followed an incident occurring on April 26, 2024, when a report of a student possessing THC products was made and Oelwein Police confiscated these items. The juvenile was released to their guardians and the matter has been referred to Juvenile Court.
At 1:06am on May 6, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested Jacob Edmund Strempke, 32, of Oelwein. Strempke was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Bodily Injury - Serious Misdemeanor. This arrest was made following multiple reports of a domestic disturbance in the 600 block of 2nd Ave SW.
At 11:36am on May 6, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested Linse Marie Weigel, 33, of La Crosse, WI. Weigel was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) - Serious Misdemeanor and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Simple Misdemeanor. This arrest was made following a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 2000 block of S Frederick Ave.
Oelwein Police investigated a motor vehicle accident in the 1600 block of South Frederick Ave at 2:10 p.m. on May 5th, 2024. A Chevy Cobalt was traveling northbound when it lost control and entered the ditch. The driver was cited for Failure to Maintain Control.
Oelwein Police investigated a motor vehicle accident near the intersection of 2nd St SE and E Hillside Dr at 10:11am on May 3, 2024. A light blue Buick Lacrosse driven by Kathryn Maness collided with a silver Ford Edge owned by Jane Pagel. Initial estimates of damages were $2,000 to the vehicle driven by Maness and $2,000 to the vehicle owned by Pagel.
At 5:54pm on May 1, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested Scott Deitrick Overmann, 45, of Oelwein. Overmann was charged with Assault - Simple Misdemeanor, Interference with Official Acts - Simple Misdemeanor, and Disorderly Conduct - Simple Misdemeanor. This arrest was made following reports of Overmann making threats in the 100 block of E Charles St.
At 11:24am on May 2, 2024, Oelwein Police arrested three 14-year-old male juveniles. Each juvenile was charged with Minor Using Tobacco/Vape Product 1st Offense. The juveniles were cited and released to their guardians following a report of students using vape pens. This matter has been referred to Juvenile Court.
