OELWEIN PUBLIC SAFETY CITY OF OELWEIN, IOWA Media Release DATE: March 10, 2025 Release: Sunday Night Search Warrant Executed - Arrests Made At approximately 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 9th, 2025, the Oelwein Police Department executed a search warrant in the 100 block of 7th Avenue NW in Oelwein. During the course of the search warrant, illegal controlled substances were located and seized. The following subjects have been arrested and charged: 1) Lucas Doyle Bennett, 33 of Oelwein Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd or subsequent- Methamphetamine - Class D Felony Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd or subsequent- Marijuana - Class D Felony Gathering Where Controlled Substances Are Used- Class D Felony Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Simple Misdemeanor Interference with Official Acts- Simple Misdemeanor Violation of Probation Warrants- X3 2) Nancy Jeannine Bradshaw, 44 of Oelwein: Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd or subsequent- Methamphetamine - Class D Felony Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd or subsequent- Marijuana - Class D Felony Gathering Where Controlled Substances Are Used- Class D Felony Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Simple Misdemeanor 3) Jade Lynn Ann Nuehring, 42 of Oelwein: Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd or subsequent- Methamphetamine - Class D Felony Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd or subsequent- Marijuana - Class D Felony Gathering Where Controlled Substances Are Used- Class D Felony Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Simple Misdemeanor The subjects were taken into custody and transported to the Fayette County Jail pending an initial appearance. Additional charges are pending, and these cases are still under investigation.

March 7, 2025

On March 6, 2025, Oelwein Police formally charged two 16-year-old male juveniles after investigating an incident that occurred at the Parkside School on February 27, 2025.  Both of the juveniles were charged with Disorderly Conduct (Fighting) - Simple Misdemeanor, and one juvenile was additionally charged with 5th Degree Criminal Mischief - Simple Misdemeanor.  Guardians of the juveniles have been notified, and the matter has been referred to Juvenile Court.

 

At 12:47am on March 7, 2025, Oelwein Police arrested Michael James Haslam, 55, of Oelwein.  Haslam was charged with Domestic Abuse Assault - Simple Misdemeanor, Assault - Simple Misdemeanor, and Interference with Official Acts - Simple Misdemeanor.  This arrest was made following reports of a domestic disturbance in the 600 block of 1st Ave SE.

 

At 11:02am on March 7, 2025, Oelwein Police cited Christopher Lee Millard, 22, of Oelwein.  Millard was issued a citation for Illegal Disposal on Public Property, following a report of illegal dumping in the 100 block of S Frederick Ave that occurred on March 3rd, 2025.

 

At 2:13pm on March 7, 2025, Oelwein Police arrested Jared Michael Richardson, 30, of Oelwein.  Richardson was arrested on a Fayette County warrant for Violation of Probation.  This arrest was made at the Oelwein Adult Corrections Office.

 

At 11:14pm on March 7, 2025, Oelwein Police arrested Rothana Ram, 36, of Oelwein.  Ram was charged with Operating While Intoxicated - Serious Misdemeanor.  This arrest was made following a traffic stop in the 1 block of 3rd St NW.

March 3, 2025

On March 1, 2025, Oelwein Police formally charged two juveniles, one 16-year-old male and one 13-year-old female, with Assault causing Bodily Injury - Serious Misdemeanor.  The charges were filed following an investigation into an assault reported on January 7, 2025 in the 400 block of E Charles St.  The guardians of the juveniles have been notified, and the matter has been referred to Juvenile Court.

 

At 8:52am on March 3, 2025, Oelwein Police charged Tony Ray Howard, 54, of Sumner, with Driving While License Suspended.  Howard was issued a citation for the offense, and given a summons to court, following a traffic stop in the 10 block of 2nd St NW.

 

At 3:11pm on March 3, 2025, Oelwein Police charged Samuel James Ruben Melver, 38, of Sumner, with Driving While License Suspended.  Melver was issued a citation for the offense, and given a summons to court, following a traffic stop in the 1900 block of S Frederick Ave.

 

At 8:19pm on March 3, 2025, Oelwein Police arrested Joshua Paul Wieland, 45, of Oelwein.  Wieland was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana) 1st Offense - Serious Misdemeanor.  This arrest was made in the 100 block of 8th Ave NW after police contact was made with Wieland relating to a 911 hangup call.

February 28, 2025

On February 28, 2025, at approximately 12:45am, Oelwein Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 100 block of 20th Street SE. As a result of the traffic stop Samuel Peter Charles Pirillo, 29, of Oelwein was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated – 1st Offense – Serious Misdemeanor.

February 27,2025

At 3:13pm on February 26, 2025, Oelwein Police investigated a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of 7th Ave NW and 2nd St NW.  A blue 2001 Buick Park Avenue driven by Tyler Dean Gamble collided with a silver 2002 Ford F150 driven by Michael Phillip Lewis.  Initial Estimates of damages were $3,000 to the vehicle driven by Gamble and $6,000 to the vehicle driven by Lewis.  Gamble was issued a citation for Failure to Obey Yield Sign.

 

On February 27, 2025, Oelwein Police charged a 13-year-old male with 1st Degree Harassment - Aggravated Misdemeanor.  This charge was filed following an investigation into an incident that occurred at the Oelwein High School on February 19, 2025.  The guardians of the juvenile have been notified, and the matter has been referred to Juvenile Court.

 

At 4:37pm on February 27, 2025, Oelwein Police arrested Brent Alfred Wierck, 39, of Fairbank.  Wierck was charged with Defrauding Drug/Alcohol Test (Possessing/Using Synthetic Urine) 1st Offense - Simple Misdemeanor.  This arrest was made at the Department of Corrections Oelwein office following a report of a client attempting to falsify their drug test.

February 25, 2025

At 8:24am on February 25, 2025, Oelwein Police filed charges on two 15-year-old male juveniles and two 16-year-old male juveniles.  One 15-year-old was cited for Minor Using Tobacco/Vape Product 1st Offense.  The other 15-year-old was cited for Minor Using Tobacco/Vape Device 3rd Offense.  One 16-year-old was cited for Minor Using Tobacco/Vape Product 2nd Offense.  The other 16-year-old was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Offense - Serious Misdemeanor and cited for Minor Using Tobacco/Vape Products 3rd Offense.  These charges and citations were filed following a report of multiple students possessing vape devices at the high school.  All juveniles were released to guardians and this matter has been referred to Juvenile Court.

February 24, 2025

On February 24, 2025, at approximately 2:15pm, Oelwein officers arrested Kyle Lee Brown, 50, of Oelwein. Brown was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance – 2nd Offense – Aggravated Misdemeanor, Disorderly Conduct – Fighting/Violent Behavior – Simple Misdemeanor, and Interference with Official Acts – Simple Misdemeanor. This arrest took place in the 200 block of West Charles after an Oelwein officer observed a disturbance taking place.

February 23, 2025

On February 23, 2025, at approximately 8:15pm, Oelwein officers arrested Shawna Lee Warnke, 45, on an active Fayette County arrest warrant for Failure to Appear – Assault. This arrest took place in the 100 block of 4th avenue NE.

February 22, 2025

At 11:48pm on February 21, 2025, Oelwein Police arrested Jacob David Bush, 38, of Oelwein.  Bush was charged with Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense - Serious Misdemeanor.  This arrest was made following a traffic stop in the 10 block of 1st Ave SE.

 

At 2:41am on February 22, 2025, Oelwein Police arrested Gonzalo-Isaias Cuaquehua Cuaquehua, 22, of Mexico.  Cuaquehua Cuaquehua was charged with Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense - Serious Misdemeanor and Reckless Driving.  Cuaquehua Cuaquehua was also issued citations for Failure to Possess Valid Driver's License, Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability, and Failure to Maintain Control.  This arrest was made following Oelwein Police responding to a report of a single vehicle accident involving a rollover in the 10 block of W Charles St.  Initial estimates of damages were $10,000 to the vehicle driven by Cuaquehua Cuaquehua, $4,000 to a City of Oelwein streetlight, and $2,500 to two handicap parking signs.  Oelwein Police were assisted by Mercy Ambulance Oelwein, the Oelwein Fire Department, and the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.

 

At 12:09pm on February 22, 2025, Oelwein Police charged Colton Hunter Hirsch, 18, of Oelwein, with Driving While License Suspended.  Hirsch was issued a citation and a summons to court for the infraction following a traffic stop in the 1300 block of Industrial Park Rd.

 

At 1:01pm on February 22, 2025, Oelwein Police charged Mitchell Lee Gray, 20, of Oelwein, with Animal Running at Large.  Gray was issued a citation for the infraction after investigating reports of a dog running loose in the SE side of Oelwein.

 

At 3:01pm on February 22, 2025, Oelwein Police charged Kayla Marie Westcott, 25, of Westgate, with Driving While License Suspended.  Westcott was issued a citation and a summons to court for the infraction following a traffic stop in the 900 block of S Frederick Ave.  Westcott was also issued a citation for Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability.

 

At 8:21pm on February 22, 2025, Oelwein Police arrested Matthew Tully Shoeneck, 35, of Prairie du Chien, WI.  Shoeneck was arrested on a US Marshal's Service warrant for violation of federal probation.  This arrest was made in the 500 block of 2nd St SE.  Oelwein Police were assisted by the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.

February 20, 2025

At around 10:30am on February 20, 2025, Oelwein police filed charges against a 16-year-old female juvenile and a 15-year-old female juvenile.  The 16-year-old was charged with Minor Using Tobacco/Vape Device and the 15-year-old was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st Offense - Serious Misdemeanor.  These charges were placed following a report of juveniles in possession of vape devices, and possibly Marijuana, at the high school.  Both juveniles were turned over to guardians after charges were filed, and the matter has been referred to Juvenile Court.
