Oelwein Police investigated a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of 1st Ave and 6th St NE at 7:03 p.m. on December 19th, 2022. A Ford Taurus driven by Daniel Bagby collided with a Dodge Ram driven by Gary Aller. Initial estimates of damage were $1000 to the vehicle driven by Aller and $2000+ to the vehicle driven by Bagby. Aller was cited with Failure to Obey Yield Sign and Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability.
Oelwein Police investigated a 1 vehicle accident near the intersection of Highway 150 and 281 at 11:18 p.m. on December 15th, 2022. A silver Hyundai driven by Kathryn Hebert went into the ditch and struck a street sign and a parked piece of construction equipment. Initial estimates of damage were $4000 to the vehicle driven by Hebert. There were no injuries and no one was charged as a result of this accident.
At 6:30 p.m. on December 14th, 2022, Oelwein Police arrested Joshua Michael Dehart, 35, of Oelwein. Dehart was arrested in the 400 block of 13th Ave NW on a Fayette County warrant for Violation of Probation.

At 3:05 p.m. on December 8th, 2022, Oelwein Police arrested Skylar Joseph Buhr, 33, of Oelwein. Buhr was arrested in the 100 block of South Frederick Ave on Fayette County warrants for Burglary 2nd degree - felony, Violation of Probation - aggravated misdemeanor, Criminal Mischief 5th degree - simple misdemeanor, Violation of No Contact Order - simple misdemeanor, Domestic Abuse Assault - aggravated misdemeanor, and Failure to Appear - serious misdemeanor. Buhr was subsequently charged with Possession of Controlled Substance (meth) - felony, Violation of No Contact/Protective Order (2 counts) - simple misdemeanor, and Operating a Vehicle Without Owners Consent - aggravated misdemeanor.
