August 1, 2021

At 6:45 p.m. on August 1st, 2021, the the Oelwein Police Department was called to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 100 blk of 8th Ave SW. Michelle Johnson, 47, of Oelwein was arrested on charges of Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Prescription Drugs, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. 

Illegal Dumping - Additional Charges

On August 2, 2021, an Oelwein Police Officer on patrol observed an illegal dumping violation outside of the recycling bins in the 400 block of Rock Island Road. Further investigation revealed that the items laying on the ground, outside of the recycling bins were the same items that were illegally dumped at the city's yard waste site over the weekend. Additionally, more of the items from the weekend investigation were located at a second recycling bin location in the South City Parking lot.
The items that were placed on the ground are not subject to being recycled at these bins and it is illegal to abandon property on the grounds of these locations. Further, items placed inside the bins are not subject to recycling and were placed in bins contrary to the bin markings. These locations are clearly marked prohibiting these acts.
Makayla Cox, 21, of Oelwein, has been charged with two additional counts of illegal dumping for these violations. Ms. Cox has been cited to appear in court at a later date.

July 31, 2021

On July 31st at 11:01 a.m. the Oelwein Police Department took a report of a two vehicle, hit and run accident that occurred at 3rd St SE and Rock Island Rd in Oelwein. This incident remains under investigation.

 

August 1,2021

At 4:57 p.m. on August 1, 2021, Oelwein Police Officers arrested Michael Rickert, 44, of Oelwein. Rickert was arrested in the 100 block of 8th Ave NW on a Fayette County Warrant for Failure to Appear on an original charge of 3rd Degree Theft.

Illegal Dumping Investigation

Charges Filed In Illegal Dumping Investigation

On Saturday, July 31, 2021, the Oelwein Police Department conducted an investigation into a number of items that were illegally dumped at the community yard waste site (700 block 4th Street SW). Officers were able to trace the items back to a subject that was contracted to clean out a rental property that the previous tenants had left behind.

The Oelwein Police Department has charged Makayla Cox, 21, and Brandon Fox, 20, both of Oelwein, with illegal dumping. Ms. Cox and Mr. Fox were both cited to appear in court at a later date.

July 31,2021

On July 31, 2021 at 10:24 p.m. Oelwein Police Officers performed a traffic stop in the 10 block of 6th St NE. Brandy Schoultz, 36, of Oelwein was cited for Driving While License Suspended.

July 29,2021

Oelwein Police are investigating a theft complaint. Oelwein Police received a report of theft at 8:43 PM from the 10 blk of 8th St SW. This incident remains under investigation.

July 28,2021

On July 28th at 12:12 a.m., in the 200 block of West Charles, Oelwein Police Officers arrested Jesse Clarence Guest, age 31, of Oelwein on two Fayette County warrants for original charges of possession of controlled substance and driving while license denied or revoked.

July 25.2021

On July 25th, 2021, at 2:39 a.m. Oelwein Police Officers performed a traffic stop at 1st Ave and 1st St SE. Devin James Little, age 20, was arrested for OWI 1st Offense, a Serious Misdemeanor.

 

On July 25th, 2021, at 2:23 p.m. Oelwein Police Officers performed a traffic stop in the 18000 blk of 60th St. Robert Joseph Rinella Jr., age 29, was arrested for Driving While License Barred, an Aggravated Misdemeanor. 

July 24,2021

On July 21, 2021 at 2:10 a.m., Oelwein Officers arrested Joshua Michael Lillibridge, age 22 of Oelwein, in the 500 block of 5th Avenue NE.  Lillibridge has been charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor and Possession of Marijuana, a Serious Misdemeanor.

 

Oelwein Officers performed a traffic stop at 10th Street and Hwy 150 on July 24, 2021 at 9:45 p.m.  Stefen Abel Miller, age 27, Of Oelwein was arrested for OWI 1st Offense, a Serious Misdemeanor.
