On May 15, 2014 at 11:43 a.m., Oelwein Officers were called to a business in the 10 block of North Frederick Ave for a reported shoplifter. Officers arrested Tiffany Leigh Marshall, age 24 of Hazleton, for Theft 2nd Degree, Class D Felony.

On May 15, 2014 at 2:20 a.m., Oelwein Officers cited and released Michael Andrew Seeders, age 18 of Oelwein for Possession of Alcohol Under the Legal Age, a Simple Misdemeanor.

On May 13, 2014 at 3:40 p.m., Oelwein Officers responded to the area of 2nd Street and 2nd Avenue SE in Oelwein for a reported altercation. Upon arrival, officers arrested Mykala Lynn Meike, age 20 of Oelwein, on a charge of Disorderly Conduct, a Simple Misdemeanor. Also charged were a 12 year old female and a 13 year old female. Both juveniles will be referred to Juvenile Court Authorities on charges of Disorderly Conduct.

On May 11, 2014 at 9:35 a.m., Oelwein Officers were called to the 10 block of 1st Avenue NE for a verbal dispute. The dispute was mediated and officers arrested Jeannie Annette Phelps, age 51, of Oelwein for Assault a Simple Misdemeanor.

Oelwein Police are investigating a burglary complaint in the 100 block of 5th Ave SE. Oelwein Police received a burglary complaint at 10:04 p.m. on May 7, 2014. This incident remains under investigation.

Oelwein Police investigated a motor vehicle accident in the 10 blk 1st Ave SE at 1:43 p.m. on May 7, 2014. A 2003 Buick Lesabre driven by Nancy Marie Lindsey collided with a 2009 Bashan Moped driven by Daniel Bernard Frederick Sullivan.

Oelwein Police are investigating a criminal mischief complaint in the 100 block of 3rd Ave NW. Oelwein Police received a criminal mischief complaint at 11:21 a.m. on May 7, 2014. This incident remains under investigation.

On May 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., Oelwein Officers were called to the 10 block of South Frederick Avenue for a trespassing issue. The issue was mediated and officers cited Tiffani Jessop, age 15, of Oelwein for Possession of Tobacco Underage.

On May 5, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., Oelwein Officers arrested Caleb James Gildard, age 22, of Oelwein. Gildard was wanted on a Fayette County Sheriff’s warrant with original charges of ten counts of Forgery.

On May 6, 2014, Oelwein Officers checked a report of suspicious activity in the 200 block of 2nd Avenue NW. Officers arrested Aric James Quario, age 18, of Oelwein on a charge of Trespass, a Simple Misdemeanor.

On May 2, 2014 at 8:35 p.m., Oelwein Officers were called to the 200 block of 2nd Avenue SE for a disturbance. Officers arrested Ruben James Hernandez Jr, age 50, of Oelwein on a charge of Assault Causing Injury, a Serious Misdemeanor.

On May 2, 2014 at 5:50 a.m., Oelwein officers performed a traffic stop in the 800 block of South Frederick Ave. As a result of this stop, officers cited Elvis Cesar Medrano, age 35 of Oelwein on charges of Driving while License Revoked a Simple Misdemeanor.

Oelwein Police Offering Free Hunter Education Class

The Oelwein Police Department is offering a free Hunter Education class on July 15th & 16th, 2014 at the Oelwein Fire Department (200 West Charles Street) . Hunter education is a mandatory program for anyone born after January 1, 1972 and is designed to introduce students to several life-long skills that are important to the many different types of outdoor recreational opportunities. The course teaches students basic survival and first aid skills, water safety, wildlife identification, and the basics of wildlife management, hunting laws, and firearm/archery safety. Hunter education also stresses the importance of individual responsibility and outdoor ethics.

After you register for the class, you will need to pick up your books at the Oelwein Police Department (501 Rock Island Rd) one week prior to the class. All chapter reviews must be completed in the books prior to July 15th. Please bring a sack lunch for both days.

Oelwein Police Raised $1200 for Youth Football League

124 Fundraiser

Oelwein Officer Ted Phillips (pictured above on the right) presents $1200 to Randy Myott for the Oelwein Youth Football League.

Last October Oelwein Officer Ted Phillips organized a Haunted House at the old library here in Oelwein to raise money for the Oelwein Youth Football League. The one night event was a big success, raising $1200 for the league. Randy Myott accepted the donation for the football league on April 28th, 2014 to use for the up-coming season. Officer Phillips is planning on organizing another Haunted House this October.
