On May 12, 2021 at 4:38 P.M., Oelwein Police arrested Jeffrey Lee Kessler, 32, of Oelwein. Young was arrested on a Scott County warrant on an original charge of Harassment 1st Degree. This arrest followed an incident I the 400 block N Frederick.
On May 12, 2021 Oelwein Police conducted tobacco compliance checks in the Oelwein area at seven local businesses. Cited for providing tobacco to minors were Talal Sarwar JanJua, 35, of Waverly, Lovdeep Singh Cheema, 20, of Oelwein as well as a minor. These checks are a part of the Iowa I-PLEDGE Tobacco Enforcement and Training Program. The overall goal of this program is to increase voluntary compliance with the state's tobacco, alternative nicotine and vapor product laws through education and enforcement.
On May 11, 2021 at 11:00 A.M., Oelwein Officers were called to the 10 block 6th ST SW for a reported Theft. This incident remains under investigation.
On 5/11/21 at 5:45 PM, officers responded to a report of a person who had been hit by a car in the parking lot at 108 1st St. SW. Upon arrival officers rendered aid until the ambulance arrived. The victim of the accident was taken to Mercy Hospital, and was pronounced dead. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene, and cooperated with the investigation. Oelwein Police contacted the Iowa State Patrol and requested a technical accident investigator. Investigation into the accident continues. The Oelwein Police Department was assisted by Oelwein Mercy Ambulance, Oelwein Fire Department and the Iowa State Patrol. The Iowa State Patrol will release more information at a later time.
On May 10, 2021 at 2:03 A.M., Oelwein Police arrested Joel Alexander Young, 34, of Oelwein. Young was arrested on a Fayette County warrant on an original charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance-Marijuana 3rd or subsequent. This arrest followed an incident I the 100 block 1st AV SW.
On May 8, 2021 at 12:14 A.M., Oelwein Police arrested John Howard Wright, 40, of Oelwein. Wright was arrested and charged with Operating while Intoxicated-2nd Offense. This arrest followed a traffic stop in the 200 block West Charles.
On May 7, 2021 at 11:00 A.M., Oelwein Officers were called to the 500 block HWY 150s for a reported Theft. This incident remains under investigation.
On May 6, 2021 at 3:28 P.M., Oelwein Officers were called to the 100 block 11th ST SW for a reported Criminal Mischief. This incident remains under investigation.
On May 3, 2021 at 1:49 A.M., Oelwein Police arrested Elexander Charles Warren Wolf, 25, of Oelwein. Wolf was arrested on a Fayette County warrant on an original charge of Violation of a No Contact Order as well as Violation of a No Contact Order charge. This arrest followed an incident in the 400 block E Charles.
On May 3, 2021 at 1:49 A.M., Oelwein Police summonsed to court, Baylee Christine Stammeyer 28, of Oelwein. Stammeyer was summons to court on a charge of Violation of a No Contact Order. This summons occurred followed an incident in the 400 block E Charles.
On May 2, 2021 at 3:59 A.M., Oelwein Police arrested Brady Lee Robert Bordner, 31, of Oelwein. Bordner was arrested and charged with Operating while Intoxicated. This arrest followed an incident in the 100 block 2nd AV SE.
On May 2, 2021 at 3:09 P.M., Oelwein Police arrested Megan Elizabeth McAllister, 31, of Oelwein. McAllister was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance- Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Public Intoxication. This arrest followed an incident in the 100 block South Frederick.
On May 2, 2021 at 6:46 P.M., Oelwein Officers were called to the 300 blcok 8th AV SE for a reported Criminal Mischief. This incident remains under investigation.
Oelwein police investigated a motor vehicle accident in the 10 block 6th AV NE at 11:23 P.M., on May 2, 2021. An unknown vehicle struck a Maroon 2013 Lincoln MKZ owned by Christopher Henderson.
On May 1, 2021 at 3:57 P.M., Oelwein Officers were called to the 10 block N Frederick for a reported Theft. This incident remains under investigation.
On May 1, 2021 at 8:22 P.M., Oelwein Police arrested Michael Joseph Scott Pepin, 44, of Oelwein. Pepin was arrested and charged with Child Stealing-Class C Felony, Assault causing Serious Injury- D Felony, 2 counts of Going armed with Intent- Class D Felony, Child Endangerment- Aggravated Misdemeanor and Reckless Driving-Simple Misdemeanor. This arrest followed an incident in the Oelwein City Park Campground.
On April 30, 2021 at 10:25 p.m., Oelwein Officers were called to the 1100 block of 1st Avenue SW for a reported domestic dispute. Officers arrested Kamie Coe Voges, age 41 of Oelwein for Domestic Abuse Assault, a Simple Misdemeanor.
