On May 27, 2021 at 05:14 A.M, Oelwein Officers were called to the 400 block 3rd AV SE for a reported Criminal Mischief.  This incident remains under investigation

 

On May 27, 2021 at 09:14 A.M, the Oelwein Police Dept took a report of criminal mischief in the 200 blk of 3rd Ave SE. This incident remains under investigation.

 

On May 27, 2021 at 11:40 A.M, the Oelwein Police Dept took a report of criminal mischief in the 300 blk of 3rd Ave SE. This incident remains under investigation.

May 26,2021

On May 26, 2021 at 2:28 PM, Oelwein Police arrested Steven Michael Jones, 50, of Oelwein. Jones was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (methamphetamine), Driving While Suspended, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. This arrest followed a traffic stop in the 100 blk of 4th St NW.

On May 26, 2021 at 10:16 PM, Oelwein Police Officers were called to the 200 blk of 20th St SE for a report of Criminal Mischief. This incident remains under investigation.

 

 

May 25, 2021

On May 25, 2021 at 7:27 P.M, Oelwein Officers were called to the 100 block 5th AV SE for a reported Theft.  This incident remains under investigation.  

 

On May 25, 2021 at 8:10 P.M, Oelwein Officers were called to the 100 block 3rd AV SE for a reported Criminal Mischief.  This incident remains under investigation.  

 

May 21,2021

On May 22, 2021 at 12:20 a.m., Oelwein Officers performed a traffic stop in the 10 block of 6th Street SW in Oelwein.  Officers charged Jaclynn Leticia Miller, age 19 of Independence, with Possession of Controlled Substance, a Serious Misdemeanor and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Alcohol Under the Legal Age, both Simple Misdemeanors.  Officers also charged Ashley Caroline Guyer, age 19 of Oelwein for Possession of Alcohol Under the Legal Age, a Simple Misdemeanor.

 

 

May 22,2021

The Oelwein Police Department has completed the investigation into multiple burglaries that have occurred
over the past few weeks. The Oelwein Police Department has been investigating burglaries to vehicles,
warehouses, garages, and businesses. Additionally, the department has completed the investigation into a
motor vehicle theft and an intentionally set fire in a garage.


On May 22, 2021, officers of the Oelwein Police Department filed multiple burglary charges, theft 2nd
Degree, and an arson charge. The offenders in these incidents are juveniles. Two male juveniles are 14 years
old, one female juvenile is 14 years old, and one male juvenile is 13 years old. Parents of the offenders have
been notified and charges are being referred to juvenile court services.

May 18,2021

On May 18, 2021 at 10:30 p.m., Oelwein Officers were called to a Domestic Disturbance in the 200 block of 5th Avenue NE in Oelwein.  Officers arrested Dustin Gene Harger, aged 38 of Cedar Rapids, on charges of Burglary 1st, Class "B" Felony; Stalking, Class "D" Felony; Domestic Abuse Assault, Serious Misdemeanor; and Violation of No Contact Order, Simple Misdemeanor.  Harger was also served an arrest warrant for a previous incident of Violation of No Contact Order. 

May 16, 2021

On May 16, 2021 at 12:42 A.M., Oelwein Police arrested Kristy Leigh Hall, 26, of Oelwein.  Hall was arrested on 2 Buchanan County Warrants, The first warrant was a Probation Violation warrant on an original charge of Possession of Methamphetamine-2nd Offense and the second warrant was on an original charge of Operation without Owners Consent.  This arrest followed an incident in the 10 block 1st ST SE

On May 16, 2021 at 12:26 P.M., Oelwein Officers were called to the 10 block 3rd ST NW for a reported Criminal Mischief.  This incident remains under investigation.

 On May 16, 2021 at 3:10 P.M., Oelwein Officers were called to the 400 block 13th AV NW for a reported Criminal Mischief.  This incident remains under investigation.

May 15, 2021

On May 15, 2121 at 9:30 A.M., Oelwein Police arrested Dakota Lee Lovell, 28, of Oelwein.  Lovell was arrested and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault 3rd.  This arrest followed an incident in the 400 block 13th AV NW.

On May 12, 2021 at 12:32 .M., Oelwein Police arrested Nicole Marie Pingree, 37, of Oelwein.  Pingree was arrested on a Buchanan County Warrant on a original charge of Theft 5th Degree.  This arrest followed an incident in the 500 block 3.5 ST SW.

On May 15, 2021 at 2:43 P.M., Oelwein Officers were called to the 400 block 4th ST SW for a reported Burglary.  This incident remains under investigation.

May 13, 2021

On May 13, 2021 at 7:15 A.M., Oelwein Officers were called to the 900 block 1st AV NE for a reported Burglary.  This incident remains under investigation.  

May 12, 2021

On May 12, 2021 at 4:38 P.M., Oelwein Police arrested Jeffrey Lee Kessler, 32, of Oelwein.  Young was arrested on a Scott County warrant on an original charge of Harassment 1st Degree.  This arrest followed an incident I the 400 block N Frederick. 

On May 12, 2021 Oelwein Police conducted tobacco compliance checks in the Oelwein area at seven local businesses.  Cited for providing tobacco to minors were Talal Sarwar JanJua, 35, of Waverly, Lovdeep Singh Cheema, 20, of Oelwein as well as a minor.  These checks are a part of the Iowa I-PLEDGE Tobacco Enforcement and Training Program. The overall goal of this program is to increase voluntary compliance with the state's tobacco, alternative nicotine and vapor product laws through education and enforcement.
