The Oelwein Police Department and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a fatality accident that occurred at approximately 11:04 AM on September 7th, 2015. A black, 2005 Harley Davidson, driven by Rodney Wayne of Oelwein, was traveling southbound in the 400 block of 1st Ave NW when the he lost control of the motorcycle and struck a utility pole. Wayne was transported to the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City where he succumbed to his injuries. The accident remains under investigation. The Oelwein Police Department and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office were assisted by the Iowa State Patrol and Mercy Oelwein ambulance.
