OPD offers Hunter Education Class in July 2014

The Oelwein Police Department is offering a free Hunter Education class on July 15th & 16th, 2014 at the Oelwein Police Department (501 Rock Island Rd). Hunter education is a mandatory program for anyone born after January 1, 1972 and is designed to introduce students to several life-long skills that are important to the many different types of outdoor recreational opportunities. The course teaches students basic survival and first aid skills, water safety, wildlife identification, and the basics of wildlife management, hunting laws, and firearm/archery safety. Hunter education also stresses the importance of individual responsibility and outdoor ethics.

You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or click here. The class will be held from 8AM to 4PM both days (July 15th & 16th).

After you register for the class, you will need to pick up your books at the Oelwein Police Department (501 Rock Island Rd) one week prior to the class. All chapter reviews must be completed in the books prior to July 15th. Please bring a sack lunch for both days.
