On August 5, 2013, at approximately 6:00 a.m.; Oelwein Police observed a white 1997 Buick LeSabre driving erratically. Various traffic violations were observed and officers attempted to stop the vehicle near the 200 block of 3rd Ave NE. The vehicle failed to stop for law enforcement and attempted to elude officers at high speeds in the northeast residential areas of town. The vehicle came to a stop in the ditch, north of 6th Street NE on Outer Road. The driver fled the vehicle, into the corn field, on foot. The passenger was detained for questioning. Officers from the Oelwein Police Department, the Oelwein Police K-9, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department and the Iowa State Patrol searched the corn field, for over an hour, but discontinued the search, for safety purposes; due to the inclement weather.
Oelwein Police are seeking assistance in locating the suspect in this matter. Kyle Dwayne Boleyn, 38; of Arlington, is being sought on charges of Eluding Law Enforcement – Aggravated Misdemeanor, Speed 90 mph in a 35 mph speed zone, Speed 50 mph in a 25 mph speed zone and numerous other traffic violations.
