Officer Brandon DeJong spent two weeks teaching the students about a variety of topics including safe and responsible decision making, managing stress, communicating effectively, bullying and the harm of using tobacco, alcohol and drugs. Marv Cook, former NFL and Iowa Hawkeye football player, gave a remarkable motivational speech to the students at the ceremony. Marv encouraged the students to go after their dreams and to take time to "pause" before making big decisions in their lives.
