On August 12, 2020 at 2:30 p.m., Oelwein Officers arrested Karma Lynn Padgett-Strempke, age 34 of Oelwein on a Fayette County Sheriff's warrant for Assault Causing Injury, a Serious Misdemeanor. Padgett-Strempke was arrested at the Oelwein Police Department on this warrant.
On August 9, 2020 at 7:05 A.M., Oelwein Officers were called to the 10 block 3rd AV SE for a report of a Burglary. This incident remains under investigation
On August 9, 2020 at 10:15 A.M., Oelwein Police arrested Justin James Gallmeyer, 37, of Oelwein. Gallmeyer was arrested and charged with Possession of Firearms by a Felon and Interference with Official Acts. This arrest followed an incident in the 800 block 4th ST SW.
On August 5, 2020 at 12:16 A.M., Oelwein Police arrested Jacob Evan Collins, 27, of Vacaville California. Collins was arrested and charged with Public Intoxication-Simple Misdemeanor. This arrest followed an incident in the 300 block 3rd AV NW

Release: July 17th Abuse Investigation Complete - Arrest Made
The Oelwein Police Department has completed the investigation into a July 17th incident involving serious injuries to an infant child. A criminal complaint was filed with the Fayette County Clerk of Court on July 29, 2020.
On July 31, 2020, the Oelwein Police Department arrested the following subject on an arrest warrant for Child Endangerment Resulting in Serious Injury to a Child - Class C Felony:
Jowayne Marquist Phillips, 21, of Oelwein
Mr. Phillips was transferred to the Fayette County Jail on a $20,000 bond. The Oelwein Police Department was assisted in this investigation by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations.
On July 31, 2020 at 10:00 A.M., Oelwein Officers were called to the 1200 block South Frederick for a report of a Burglary. This incident remains under investigation
On July 31, 2020 at 3:28 P.M., Oelwein Officers were called to the 700 block South Frederick for a report of a Burglary. This incident remains under investigation
On July 30, 2020 at 4:57 P.M., Oelwein Officers were called to the 10 block 1st AV NE for a report of a Theft. This incident remains under investigation
On July 29, 2020 at 7:30 p.m., Oelwein Officers responded to a reported disturbance in the 500 block of 4th Av NE. Officers arrested Shawn William Armstrong, age 47 of Oelwein on charges of Public Intoxication, a Simple Misdemeanor and Assault with Intent to Inflict Serious Injury, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.
On July 22, 2020 at 7:27 A.M., Oelwein Officers were called to the 100 block 6th AV SE for a report of a Burglary. This incident remains under investigation
On July 21, 2020 at 1:56 P.M., Oelwein Police arrested Jennifer Lee Bagg, 27, of Oelwein. Bagg was arrested on a Fayette County Warrant on an original charge of Interference with Official Acts. This arrest occurred after an officer’s interaction with the subject in the 100 block 8th AV SW
