On March 16, 2021 at 11:10 p.m., Oelwein Officers responded to the area of the 10 block of 1st Avenue SE for a reported disturbance in progress. Officers arrested Rick Alan Butterfield, age 49 of Oelwein, on a charge of Willful Injury, a Class "C" Felony.
Oelwein Officers performed a traffic stop in the 10 block of 2nd Street NW on March 17, 2021 at 1:45 p.m. Officers arrested Kimberli Jean Giesbrecht, 46 year old resident of Oelwein, for Driving While License Revoked.
Oelwein Officers cited and released Amy Marie Murphy, age 55 of Oelwein, for Driving While License Suspended following a traffic stop in the 200 block of West Charles on March 18, 2021 at 12:10 a.m. Murphy was also given a warning for an inoperable tail lamp.
Dakota Lee Lovell, age 28 of Oelwein was cited and released for Driving While License Suspended. This citation resulted from a traffic stop in the 1200 block of 3rd Street NW on March 18, 2021 at 2:45 a.m.
On March 14, 2021 at 2:25 p.m., Oelwein Officers stopped a Blue Oldsmobile with no license plates, at the intersection of South Frederick and 4th St SW. The driver, Carrie Jo Fox, age 39 of Oelwein, was arrested on a charge of Driving While Barred, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.
On March 12, 2021 at 12:35 P.M., Oelwein Officers were called to the 400 block 13th AV NW for a report of theft. This incident remains under investigation.
On March 12, 2021 at 2:01 P.M., Oelwein Officers were called to the 300 block W Charles for a report of Criminal Mischief. This incident remains under investigation.
On March 12, 2021 at 5:57P.M., Oelwein Police arrested Kistler Earl Pritchett, 26, of Oelwein. Pritchett was arrested and charged with Operation while Intoxicated 2nd. This arrest followed an incident in the in the area of HWY 281 and Hwy 150.
On the afternoon of January 25, 2021, a citizen turned in a certain amount of found cash to the Oelwein Police Department. This cash has yet to be claimed. An owner, with a certain belief that this property is theirs, may contact the Oelwein Police Department at 319-283-4311 or in person at 501 Rock Island Road. A potential owner MUST be able to state exactly the amount and denominations of the cash, as well as what the money was contained in and where they believe they may have lost it. Owner of this property will have until April 30, 2021 to claim this property.

On March 10, 2021 at 1:40 p.m., Oelwein Officers took a report of a vehicle taken from the 100 block of South Frederick. At 2:30 p.m., the vehicle was recovered and Officers arrested Kurtis Wayne Shasteen, age 37 of Oelwein, on a charge of Operating Without Owner's Consent, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.
On March 7, 2021 at 9:57 A.M., Oelwein Police arrested Travis Wade Entrekin, 33, of Oelwein. Entrekin was arrested and charged with Assault causing Bodily Injury and 2 counts of simple Assault. This arrest followed an incident in the 700 block of South Frederick.
On March 7, 2021 at 6:23 P.M., Oelwein Police cited Chester Lee Mosby Jr, 22, of Oelwein. Mosby was cited for Driving while License suspended as well as no insurance. These citations followed a traffic stop in the 400 block 4th ST SE.
Oelwein Police investigated a motor vehicle accident at 14th ST SE and Hwy 150 at 9:33 P.M., on March 7, 2021. A black 2009 Subaru Legacy driven by Brian Frenzen was struck by a vehicle that did not stop. This incident remains under investigation.
On March 7, 2021 at 11:55P.M., Oelwein Police arrested Jesse Clarence Guest, 31, of Oelwein. Guest was arrested and charged Driving while License Barred and Failure to file SR 22. This arrest followed traffic stop at the intersection of 1st AV and 8th ST SW. Guest was also cited for driving without registration.
On March 5, 2021 at 5:40 p.m., Oelwein Officers responded to the first block of 2nd Av NW in Oelwein for a reported assault. Officers arrested Shawn William Armstrong, age 47 of Oelwein on charges of Assault and Public Intoxication, both Simple Misdemeanors.
On March 4, 2021 at 9:15 a.m., Oelwein Officers responded to a report of a suspicious person in the first block of South Frederick Avenue. Officers discovered Kurtis Wayne Shasteen, age 37 of Shellsburg in an unoccupied dwelling. Shasteen was arrested for Trespass.
Oelwein Officers arrested Atonio James Cleveland Oaks, age 29, of Oelwein on March 4, 2021 at 12:30 p.m. Oaks served a Fayette County Sheriff's Office arrest warrant for Violation of a No Contact Order at the Oelwein Police Department.
On March 3, 2021 at 3:14 P.M., Oelwein Officers were called to the 10 block 1st ST SE for a report of theft. This incident remains under investigation.
On March 3, 2021 at 5:34 P.M., Oelwein Police cited Jade Lynn Anne Nuehring, 38, of Oelwein. Nuehring was cited for Driving while Barred. This citation followed a traffic stop in the 10 block 1st ST SE. Nuehring was also cited for no insurance.
Oelwein police investigated a motor vehicle accident at the Kwik Star at 7:09 P.M., on March 3, 2021. A red 2017 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Sherry Meike struck a grey 2013 Dodge Dart driven by Curtis Horstmeier.
On March 2, 2021 at 10:17 A.M., Oelwein Officers were called to the 400 block 13th AV NW for a report of Burglary. This incident remains under investigation.
On March2, 2021 at 5:34 P.M., Oelwein Police arrested Dakota Ray Vandermillen, 25, of Oelwein. Vandermillen was arrested and charged with Assault on persons engaged in certain occupations- Serious Misdemeanor, Criminal Mischief 3rd degree, Public Intoxication- Simple Misdemeanor and Interference with Official Acts- Simple Misdemeanor.
