On June 19, 2013 at 9:30 p.m., Oelwein Officers executed a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 100 block of North Frederick Ave. Officers arrested Kimberly Ann Blue, age 45 of Oelwein, on a charges of OWI a Serious Misdemeanor and Child Endangerment an Aggravated Misdemeanor.
On June 16, 2013, Oelwein Officers received a complaint of assault in the 400 block of 7th Ave SE. Officers arrested Eric David Scheffert, age 43 of Oelwein, on June 18, 2013 at 11:00 p.m., on a charge of Assault a Simple Misdemeanor.
On June 18, 2013 at 3:00 a.m., Oelwein Officers were called to a report of 2 juveniles trespassing on a building in the 10 block of South Frederick in Oelwein. Officers did locate the juveniles and they were transported to their residences, warned against further incidences of trespassing and released into the custody of their parents. Mason Joseph Meyer, age 14 of Oelwein, was cited for Possession of Tobacco Under the Legal Age.
On June 15, 2013 at 12:30 a.m., Oelwein Officers executed a traffic stop on a vehicle at the corner of 7th St SW and South Frederick Ave. Officers arrested Abraham Aguilar Jr, age 31 of Eagle Pass of Texas, on a charge of OWI 2nd an Aggravated Misdemeanor.
On June 14, 2013 at 9:35 p.m., Oelwein Officers responded to a residence in the 600 block of West Charles, for a report of a disturbance. Officers arrested Larissa Sue Louch, age 22 of Oelwein, on a charges of Domestic Assault with Injury a Serious Misdemeanor and Interference with Official Acts a Simple Misdemeanor. Officer also arrested Timothy David Anderson-Jobe, age 27 of Oelwein, on a charge of Domestic Assault a Serious Misdemeanor.
Oelwein Police are investigating a theft complaint in the 100 block of 4th Ave NE. Oelwein Police received a theft complaint at 4:44 pm on June 14, 2013. This incident remains under investigation.

On June 14, 2013 at 1:56 a.m., Oelwein Officers executed a routine traffic stop at the corner of Hwy 150 and 7th St SE in Oelwein. Officers cited the passenger Corey Leigh Hofius, age 31, of Anamosa on a charge of Open Container as a Passenger, a Simple Misdemeanor.
Oelwein Officers were called to a business in the 100 block of 2nd Street SE in Oelwein for a suspected shoplifter on June 15, 2013 at 1:45 p.m. Officers arrested Linda Marie Lau, age 41 of Oelwein, on a charge of Theft in the Third Degree, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.
On June 16, 2013 at 2:10 a.m., Oelwein Officers stopped a vehicle not displaying a front license plate in the 100 block of West Charles in Oelwein. The driver of the vehicle, Mark Lynold Boehmke age 45 of Cedar Rapids, was arrested on a charge of OWI 1st Offense, a Serious Misdemeanor.
On June 14, 2013, at approximately 5:20 p.m. the Oelwein Communications Center received a report of two adult male subjects that approached a 10 year old female and attempted to repeatedly coax her into the vehicle. This incident occurred in the 10 block of Hwy 150 North.
The child was unsure of the type of vehicle but described it as a light blue van/suv/crossover type vehicle with a Green Bay Packers sticker on the passenger side. The Oelwein Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating the vehicle for further investigation. On June 11, 2013 at 11:30 p.m., Oelwein Officers executed a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 10 block of 13th Avenue NW. Officers arrested Christopher James Jelinek, age 29 of Oelwein, on a charge of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Simple Misdemeanor.
The Oelwein Police Department will be hosting a Hunter Education class on Monday and Tuesday, July 15th & 16th at the Oelwein Fire Department. Hunter education is a mandatory program that is designed to introduce students to several life-long skills that are important to the many different types of outdoor recreational opportunities. The course teaches students basic survival and first aid skills, water safety, wildlife identification, and the basics of wildlife management, hunting laws, and firearm/archery safety. Hunter education also stresses the importance of individual responsibility and outdoor ethics. Iowa law requires that anyone born after January 1st, 1972 must be certified in hunter education before they are eligible to purchase an Iowa hunting license. A person who is 11 years old or older may enroll in this class. The class is free. Register online by going to www.oelweinpolice.org. After you register, you may pick-up your Hunter Safety Book at the Oelwein PD between July 1st – July 12th and have the chapter reviews completed before class. On June 10, 2013 at 11:00 p.m., Oelwein Officers performed a routine traffic stop in the 10 block of 2nd Street SE in Oelwein. Officers arrested Levi Alan Parizek, age 18 of Rowley, on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Marijuana, a Serious Misdemeanor and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor.
On June 9, 2013 at 11:30 p.m., Oelwein Officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of 8th Ave NW in Oelwein and served an arrest warrant on Alexander Stephen Bell, age 21 of Oelwein. Bell was arrested on a Polk County warrant for impersonating a public official.
Oelwein Police are investigating the theft of an antenna taken off of a vehicle on the 500 block of 5th Ave SE.
On 06-08-13 Oelwein Police arrested Justin David Miller, 27 of Elgin. Miller was arrested on a Winneshiek County warrant for failure to serve jail time for an OWI charge and for failure to appear for a compliance review.
Oelwein Police were called to Kwik Star for a report of a motor vehicle hit and run. Follow up investigation resulted in the arrest of 21 year old Luke Kenneth Meyer of Oelwein. Meyer was consequently charged with: Leaving the scene of an accident –simple misdemeanor; open container in a motor vehicle – simple misdemeanor; and Operating while intoxicated – serious misdemeanor.
