November 8, 2014

On November 9, 2014 at 3:41 a.m., Oelwein Officers performed a traffic stop in the 10 block of 1st Ave SE. Officers cited and released Jordon Lee Horkheimer, age 20, of Hazleton and Mason Charles Shannon, age 18, of Oelwein. Both were charged with Possession of Alcohol Underage a Simple Misdemeanor.

On November 9, 2014 at 12:41 a.m., Oelwein Officers were called to a disturbance in the 10 block of 4th St SW. Officers arrested Troy Christopher Miller, age 26, of Oelwein, on charges of Trespass a Simple Misdemeanor and Theft 3rd Degree an Aggravated Misdemeanor. Miller was also cited for Manner of Conveyance Un-loaded.

On November 8, 2014 at 3:52 p.m., Oelwein Officers were called to a disturbance in the 600 block of North Frederick Ave. Officers arrested Jeffrey Richard Woods, age 50, of Oelwein, on charges of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia a Simple Misdemeanor.

 

Oelwein Police Raise $2100 for Oelwein Youth Football League

Oelwein Officer Ted Phillips presented a check for just over $2100 to Randy Myott for the Oelwein Youth Football League.

 

Last month, Oelwein Officer Phillips organized a Haunted House at the old library in Oelwein to raise money for the Oelwein Youth Football League. Last year, the one-night-only event raised $1200 for the league. This year, the organizers decided to make it a two-night-event and it paid off. The Haunted House raised $2106.06 for Oelwein Youth Football League this year. Randy Myott accepted the donation for the football league on November 6th, 2014. On November 6, 2014 at 1:20 a.m., Oelwein Officers were called to a disturbance in the 10 block of 5th Ave SE. Officers arrested Joshua Michael Bailey, age 22, of Oelwein, on charges of Enhanced Public Intoxication an Aggravated Misdemeanor.

On November 5, 2014 at 5:55 p.m., Oelwein Police served a citation to Jesse Allen Scheckel, age 32, of Oelwein, for Failure to Abate Nuisance at 710 3rd Ave SW.

On November 5, 2014 at 12:17 p.m., Oelwein Officers were called to a disturbance in the 400 block of 2nd Ave NW. Officers referred to Juvenile Court Services Michelle Marie Manning, age 17, of Oelwein, on charges of Possession of Tobacco Underage and Disorderly Conduct both Simple Misdemeanors.

November 4, 2014

On November 4, 2014 at 3:13 p.m., Oelwein Officers arrested Nathan Burco Givant, age 18, of Oelwein on a Fayette County Warrant, original charges of Unlawful Possession of Prescription Drugs.

On November 4, 2014 at 10:11 a.m., Oelwein Officers responded to a 2 vehicle property damage accident in the area of Hwy 150 and 7th St SE. A 2000 Dodge Intrepid, driven by Paula Rae Thomas of Oelwein collided with a 2nd vehicle, a 2005 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Roselene Eleanor Carey of Oelwein. Carey was cited for Failure to Obey Traffic Device.

November 3, 2014

On November 3, 2014 at 8:40 a.m., Oelwein Officers responded to a property damage accident in the 300 block of 7th Street SE in Oelwein. Vehicle #1, a 2014 Ford Fusion, driven by Kevin Gann, sustained $4800 damage and vehicle #2, a 2005 Ford Focus, driven by Kristen Elizabeth Pingree, sustained $2500 damage. Gann was cited for Failure to Obey a Yield Sign.

On November 3, 2014 at 10:20 a.m., Oelwein Officers arrested Austin Paul Bellmer, age 19, of Oelwein on a Fayette County Warrant, original charges of Burglary 3rd Degree.

November 2, 2014

Following a routine traffic stop in the 100 block of 3rd St SE on October 31st at 11:34PM, Brianna Noel Prentice, 19, of Oelwein was arrested for Possession of marijuana. This is a serious misdemeanor.

A 911 report of an assault resulted in the arrest of a 29 year old Oelwein man. Timothy David Anderson-Jobe was arrested on November 1st and charged with second offense domestic abuse assault.  This is a serious misdemeanor.

“To Protect and To Serve= To help our neighbors in need”

Do you have coats around the house that you want to give away? Well, keep them in hand and get ready to drop them off at the Oelwein Police Department. Don’t have time to stop by the police department to drop that coat off? No problem! We will come to you to receive your donations. Rather make a monetary donation for this effort? No problem! The Oelwein Police Department will receive all monetary donations no matter how large or small to help in this effort.

The Oelwein Police Department is sponsoring a winter coat drive during the months of November and December 2014 to ensure that our neighbors of all ages are warm this winter season. The Oelwein Police Department will be welcoming donations of new and slightly used winter coats, hats, gloves, scarfs, and monetary donations during this drive to be used locally within our community.

To donate simply come to the police department with your donation (501 Rock Island Rd) or call the police department administrative line (319-283-4311) and we will be more than happy to come to you and all donations can be kept anonymous.

To help with this cause, officers of the Oelwein Police Department will be participating in “No Shave November”. In order to participate, officers have to contribute to this coat drive and the public can donate, a monetary donation or a coat, on behalf of an officer.

October 30, 2014

Oelwein Police investigated a motor vehicle accident in the 100 block of 3rd Ave NW at 8:27 p.m. on October 30, 2014.  A White 1998 Buick Park Avenue driven by Desiree Lynn Brachett collided with a parked Black 2009 Chevrolet Silverado owned by Ryan Matthew Haar.  The Oelwein Police were assisted by Mercy Oelwein Ambulance.

On October 30, 2014 at 4:08 p.m., Oelwein Officers were called to a disturbance in the 300 block of 3rd Ave SE. Officers arrested Anthony Allen Copley, age 28, of Oelwein, on charges of Assault Domestic a Simple Misdemeanors.

On October 30, 2014 at 12:15 p.m., Oelwein Officers performed a traffic stop in the 400 block of 4th St NE. Officers cited and released Carrie Jo Smock, age 31, of Oelwein for Driving with a Suspended License.

 

October 29, 2014

On October 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., Oelwein officers were called to the 300 block of 8th Avenue SE. Officers arrested Victor Raymond Childers, age 17, of Aurora on a charge of Possession Of Marijuana, a Serious Misdemeanor.

On October 20, 2014 at 5:00 a.m., Oelwein Officers responded to a report of a dispute in the 100 block of 2nd Avenue NW in Oelwein.  Officers arrested Jasmin Dupree Keys, age 17, of Waterloo on charges of Interference With Official Acts and Disorderly Conduct:Fighting.  Keys was referred to Juvenile Court Authorities.

Oelwein Officers are investigating a hit and run accident occurring October 23, 2014 at 11:50 p.m. A vehicle was parked and struck in the 700 block of 1st Avenue NE in Oelwein.  The suspect vehicle had left the scene upon officer arrival.
