October 19, 2016

At 5:29 p.m., on October 19, 2016 Oelwein Police arrested Jeramy John Warren, 40, of Oelwein.  Warren was arrested on a charge of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia-Simple Misdemeanor.  This arrest took place following a disturbance in the 900 block of 1st AV SW.

October 15, 2016

On October 14, 2016 at3:51 p.m., Oelwein Officers performed a traffic stop in the 200-blk 1st Av SE.  Officers cited Robert Charles Moreno, age 36, of Oelwein on one count of Driving While License Suspended.

October 14, 2016

 At 5:27 p.m., on October 14, 2016 Oelwein Police arrested James Melvin Rudolph, 32, of Oelwein.  Rudolph was arrested and charged with Domestic Abuse Assault- Aggravated Misdemeanor as well as a Buchanan County Warrant for Debtors exam.  This arrest followed a disturbance in the 200 block of 2nd av nw.

October 12,2016

On October 13, 2016 at 2:00 a.m., in the 300 block of South Frederick, Oelwein Officers arrested Cody Richard Reisner, age 33 of Oelwein on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance-Methamphetamine, a Class "D" Felony and Interference With Official Acts and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, both Simple Misdemeanors.

October 11,2016

On October 11, 2016 at 3:05 p.m. in the 100 block of 8th Avenue NW, Oelwein Officers arrested Katie Jane Waters, age 31 of Oelwein on a Fayette County Probation Violation warrant with original charges of Manufacturing, Delivery, or Possession with Intent to Deliver Meth and Carrying Weapons.  Waters also has a Probation Violation warrant out of Buchanan County with an original charge of Theft 4th Degree.

October 9, 2016

Oelwein Police are investigating a theft complaint.  Oelwein Police received a report fo theft at 11:17 a.m., on October 8, 2016 from the 400 block of 7th ST SE.  This incident remains under investigation.

 

At 10:10 pm on October 8, 2016 Oelwein Police Cited Heike Gant, 58, of Oelwein.  Gant was cited and released for Disturbing the Peace and Quiet.  This Citation was issued following an incident in the 400 block of 13th av nw.

 

At 12:49 a.m., on October 9, 2016 Oelwein Police arrested Quinn Obrien, 20, of Cedar Rapids and Carlos Cano 19, of Cedar Rapids.  Obrien was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance-Serious Misdemeanor, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia-Simple Misdemeanor, Obrien was also cited with Possession of Alcohol under 21and Cano was charged with Operating While Intoxicated-Serious Misdemeanor, Possession of a Controlled Substance-Serious Misdemeanor and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia-Simple Misdemeanor.  These arrests were the result of a driving complaint that culminated in a traffic stop in the 10 block of 1st AV SE.

October 7,2016

On October 7, 2016 at 3:10 p.m., Oelwein Officers performed a traffic stop in the 300 block of 7th St SW.  The driver was found to have an invalid driving status.  Officers arrested Mandy Jo Martin, age 32 of Oelwein for Driving While License Revoked, a Serious Misdemeanor.

 

 

Oelwein Officers performed a traffic stop in the 10 block of 1st Av SW on October 7, 2016 at 10:15 p.m.  Officers arrested Timothy Joseph Hogan, age 20 of Oelwein on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Serious Misdemeanor and Possession of Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor.

 

 

On October 8, 2016 at 2:20 p.m., Oelwein Officers took a report of an assault that had occurred in the 100 block of South Frederick in Oelwein.  Officers arrested Jade Lynn Ann Nuehring, age 33 of Oelwein, on a charge of Assault, Simple Misdemeanor.

On October 6, 2016 at 2:40 p.m., Oelwein Officers arrested Chrystal Ann Grams, age 31 of Oelwein for a Fayette County Warrant charge of Failure to Appear for Debtor's Exam.

Fatality Accident Investigation Completed – Charges Filed:

 

 

 

The Oelwein Police Department has completed an investigation into a motor vehicle accident that occurred on June 5, 2016. Michael Christian Burkey, 24, of Hawkeye; driving a 2005 Audi, was northbound in the 800-900 block of North Frederick when he collided with a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Ann Sanderson, 82, of Oelwein.  As a result of the collision, Mrs. Sanderson later died from the injuries that she sustained.

 

The investigation determined that Mr. Burkey was operating his vehicle at an excessive rate of speed.  Mr. Burkey has been charged with Homicide by Vehicle – Reckless Driving, which is a Class C Felony.  Mr. Burkey is being held in the Fayette County Jail on bond.

 

The Oelwein Police Department were assisted with the investigation by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department and the Iowa State Patrol.  Also assisting at the initial scene was the Oelwein Fire Department and Oelwein Mercy Ambulance.

 

October 6, 2016

At 10:55 p.m., on October 5, 2016 Oelwein Police arrested Kelly Adam Lohrer, 33, of Oelwein.  Lohrer was arrested on 2 Fayette county warrants on original charges of Controlled Substance violations.  Lohrer was also charged with Unlawful Possession of Prescription Drugs- Serious Misdemeanor, Possession of a Controlled Substance- Serious Misdemeanor, Driving while License Suspended-Simple Misdemeanor and 2 counts of  Possession of Drug Paraphernalia-Simple Misdemeanor.  This arrest took place following an officer’s interaction with the subject in the 1300 block of West Charles.  Further charges are pending in this incident

October 5, 2016

At 2:01 am on November 5, 2016 at Oelwein Police arrested Shawna Nicole Wille, 29, of West Union.  Wille was arrested on charges of Domestic Abuse Assault- Simple Misdemeanor and Interference with Official Acts-Serious Misdemeanor.  This arrest followed the report of a disturbance in the 100 block East Charles.
