On August 29, 2013 at 1:15 p.m., Oelwein Officers responded to a two vehicle property damage accident in the 100 block of 2nd Street SE in Oelwein. Vehicle one, a silver 2003 Buick LeSabre, driven by Donna Evelyn James age 88 of Fayette struck a second vehicle, a Black 2002 Ford Taurus driven by Morgan Ann Derifield, age 19, of Oelwein. James was cited for Failure to Yield.
On August 29, 2013 at 7:40 p.m., Oelwein Officers performed a traffic stop in the area of 10th Street on Hwy 150 South. Officers requested, and received, consent to search the vehicle, resulting in seizure of drug paraphernalia. Officers charged Tara Ann Scott, age 19 of Hazleton on a Simple Misdemeanor charge of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
On August 27, 2013 at 12:11 p.m., Oelwein Officers performed a traffic stop in the 200 block of 10th Street SE in Oelwein. Officers arrested Joshua Aaron Roepke, age 21, of Oelwein on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor) and a Buchanan Co warrant for probation violation on original charges of burglary 3rd and criminal mischief.
Oelwein Police are investigating a theft complaint in the 800 block of 5th St SE. Oelwein Police received a theft complaint at 8:31pm on August 27, 2013. This incident remains under investigation.
On August 27, 2013 at 9:43 p.m., Oelwein Officers were called to a residence in the 400 block of 13th Ave NW in Oelwein. Upon arrival Officers arrested Jeremy Michael Quario, age 30 of Oelwein and charged him with Possession of Controlled Substance – Marijuana a Serious Misdemeanor.
On August 26, 2013 at 1:45 a.m., Oelwein Officers responded to the 10 block of South Frederick Avenue in Oelwein for a reported property damage accident. Vehicle number one, a 1997 Buick LeSabre, driven by Mary Kay Fish, age 66 of Arlington, sustained $3000.00 in damages. Vehicle number two , a 2011 Chevrolet Expedition, driven by Gerald Le Wolfe, age 70 of Parkersburg, sustained $1000.00 in damages.
On August 25, 2013 at 5:50 a.m., Oelwein Officers were called to a residence in the 10 block of 4th Street NW in Oelwein for a male acting suspiciously. Upon arrival Officers found Sergio Valdez, age 26 of Oelwein to be intoxicated in the area. Valdez was arrested and charged with Public Intoxication and Trespass, both Simple Misdemeanors.
On August 20, 2013 at 9:30 p.m., Oelwein Officers performed a traffic stop in the 600 block of 7th Street SE in Oelwein. In the course of this stop, officers cited and released Ryan Duane Latham, age 15, of Oelwein on a charge of Underage Possession of Tobacco.
Oelwein Police are investigating a criminal mischief complaint in the 400 block of 2nd Ave NW. Oelwein Police received a criminal mischief complaint at 4:56 pm on August 22, 2013. This incident remains under investigation.
On August 23rd, 2013, at 11AM, Oelwein city leaders, business representatives and community members came out for the ground-breaking ceremony of the new Oelwein Police Department facility.

On 08-10-13 Oelwein Police cited Jason Lee Boutin, 24 of Oelwein, with driving while license suspended. This is a simple misdemeanor.
During a routine traffic stop on 08-10-13, Oelwein Police arrested William Joseph Wriggle, 46 of Luana. Wriggle was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Chickasaw County for an original charge of Fraud – insufficient funds check. Bond was posted and he was later released.
Following a routine traffic stop on 08-10-13, Oelwein Police arrested Samantha Jean Birchard 27 of Independence for operating while intoxicated. This charge is a serious misdemeanor.
On August 10, 2013 at 1:28 a.m., Oelwein Officers executed a traffic stop in the area 10th St SW and 6th Ave SW in Oelwein. Officers arrested the passengers, Jacob Ray Stepp, age 23, of Oelwein, and Brittany Kay McIntyre, age 20, of Oelwein. Stepp was arrested on a charge of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia a Simple Misdemeanor and McIntyre was arrested on a charge of Possession of controlled Substance Marijuana a Serious Misdemeanor.
On August 21, 2013 at 3:10 a.m., Oelwein Officers were called to a business in the 700 block of South Frederick for a reported window broken out. After investigating the incident, Officers arrested Jeremy Michael Quario age 30 of Oelwein. Quario has been charged with Burglary in the 3rd Degree, a Class “D” Felony. Further charges in this incident will be pending.
On August 21, 2013 at 3:48 a.m., Oelwein officers arrested Shawn Paul Hansen, age 27, of Oelwein, on charges of Possession of Marijuana, a Serious Misdemeanor; Assault on a Peace Officer, a Serious Misdemeanor; and Interference with Official Acts, a Simple Misdemeanor.
Oelwein Officers were called to the 100 block of South Frederick for a reported disturbance on August 22, 2013 at 1:30 a.m. Officers arrested Derrick Tyler Wilson, 22 years old, of Oelwein on charges of Enhanced Public Intoxication and Interference with Official Acts, both Aggravated Misdemeanors and Disorderly Conduct, A Simple Misdemeanor. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Oelwein Police Department with this incident.
On August 21, 2013 at 1:05 a.m., while patrolling the area of the 200 block of 2nd Street NE in Oelwein, officers stopped and identified a suspicious male. After being given consent to search by the individual, officers arrested James Daniel Mull, age 31 of Waterloo on a charge of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor.
On August 20, 2013 at 1:25 a.m., Oelwein Officers encountered a suspicious male while on patrol in the area of 10th Street and 6th Avenue SW in Oelwein. Officers stopped to identify the male and after observation and testing of a product in the male’s possession, officers arrested Seth Allen McLane, age 19 of Oelwein on charges of two counts of Conspiracy to Manufacture more than 5 grams of Methamphetamine, Class B Felonies and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Simple Misdemeanor. The contents of containers in McLane’s possession was identified by the Oelwein Police Department’s Certified Clandestine Lab Officers as Methamphetamine and the Oelwein Police Department was assisted by the Oelwein Fire Department and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.
Oelwein officers performed a traffic stop in the 400 block of 1st Avenue NW in Oelwein at 5:20 a.m. on August 20, 2013. Officers cited and released Dustin Lee Westpfahl, age 31 of Oelwein for Driving While License Suspended.
On August 18, 2013 at 7:51 p.m., Oelwein Officers were called to a business in the 100 block of South Frederick for two males searching a vehicle. Officers arrested Tom Henry Seago, 52, of Oelwein and Arthur Nelson Fish, 51, of Oelwein. Both Seago and Fish were charged with Burglary in the 3rd Degree an Aggravated Misdemeanor.
Oelwein Police are investigating a theft complaint in the 900 block of 1st Ave NE. Oelwein Police received a theft complaint at 11:46 a.m. on August 18, 2013. This incident remains under investigation.
