On July 30, 2016 at 3:55 a.m., Oelwein Officers were called to the 100 block of 3rd Avenue NW for a reported male laying in the street. Officers arrested Mark Allen Shannon, age 33 of Oelwein for Public Intoxication, 1st Offense, a Simple Misdemeanor.
On July 28, 2016 at 7:30 p.m., Oelwein Officers cited Melissa Ann Stearns, age 38 of Oelwein was cited for Failure to Abate per Order for a property in the 100 block of 4th Avenue NE. This charge stems from service of an order to abate a property, on July 6, 2016.
On July 27, 2016 Oelwein Officers issued a citation to David Duane Latham, age 59 for Failure to Abate per Order for a property in the 600 block of 1st St NE. This citation resulted from an abatement order previously served to Latham.
On July 27, 2016 at 10:09 p.m., Oelwein Police arrested two juvenile females in connection with a theft that occurred in the 300 block of 7th St SE. The juveniles were referred to Juvenile Court Services on a charge of 3rd degree theft.
On July 28, 2016 at 2:05 a.m., Oelwein Police arrested Joshua R Van Pay. 23, of Green Bay, WI. Van Pay was arrested on a charge of Operating while Intoxicated-Serious Misdemeanor. This arrest was made following a traffic stop in the 200 block of 1st Av SE
The Oelwein Police Department is advising residents of an update on a traffic detour conducted by the Iowa Department of Transportation.
Starting at approximately 7AM on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 through approximately July 29, 2016, the area of the 500 block of Hwy 150 South, in Oelwein, will be closed to through traffic. This closure is being done to accommodate for repairs of the rail line that cross the highway at this location.
Traffic will be rerouted from 2nd Street S.E. and Hwy 150 towards South Frederick. Traffic will also be rerouted from the area of 7th St. S.E. towards South Frederick. Residents will still be able to get to businesses along this route but through traffic will be prohibited.
On July 25, 2016 Oelwein Officers issued a citation to Steven Matthew Suwyn, age 25 for Failure to Abate Per Order for a property in the 200 block of 1st Avenue NW. This citation is the result of an abatement order served on July 10, 2016.
On July 25, 2016 Officers issued a citation to Bernice Mary Schanbeck, age 61 for Failure to Abate Per Order for a property in the 100 block of 4th St NW. This citation is a result of an abatement order served on July 11, 2016.
On July 25, 2016 at 11:00 p.m., Oelwein Officers executed a traffic stop at the intersection of 10th St and Hwy 150 in Oelwein. As a result of this stop, officers charged a juvenile female with OWI 1st Offense.
At 3:10 a.m. on July 26, 2016 in the 10 block of 1st Av SE, Oelwein Officers performed a traffic stop, resulting in the citation of Michael Melvern Miller, age 41 of Oelwein, for Driving While License Suspended.
On July 18, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., Oelwein Officers arrested Jeramy John Warren, age 39 of Oelwein on a Chickasaw County warrant for Failure to Appear. This is a correction to a previously submitted press release from July 19, 2016.
On July 24, 2016 at 8:30 p.m., Oelwein Officers responded to the 10 block of 2nd Street NW for a reported domestic disturbance. Officers arrested Robert Allen Latham, age 42 of Oelwein on charges of Domestic Abuse Assault 3rd Offense-D Felony, Obstruction of Emergency Communications-Simple Misdemeanor, and Public Intoxication-Simple Misdemeanor.
On July 22, 2016 at 8:04 p.m., Oelwein Police arrested Randy Allen Myers, 37, of Oelwein. Meyers was arrested on a Buchanan County Warrant for an Original Charge of Contempt of Court. This arrest followed an incident in the 100 block of East Charles.
On July 18, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., Oelwein Officers arrested Jeramy John Warren, age 39 of Oelwein on a Chickasaw County warrant for Failure to Appear for Assault Causing Bodily Injury.
On July 18, 2016 at 3:20 p.m., Oelwein Officers arrested Randall Lee Meike, age 44 of Oelwein for charges on Fayette County warrants for original charges of Failure to Affix Drug Tax Stamp, Driving While License Suspended, and Possession of Controlled Substance and charges on Buchanan County warrants for Forgery and Malicious Prosecution, Harassment of a Public Official, and Driving While License Suspended and charges on Black Hawk County warrants for Failure to Appear for Arraignment for Driving While License Suspended and Providing False Identification Information.
Oelwein Police are investigating a criminal mischief complaint. Oelwein Police received a report of criminal mischief at 12:07 a.m., on July 18, 2016 in the 300 block of West Charles St. This incident remains under investigation.
At 12:46 a.m., on July 18, 2016 Oelwein Police Cited Mark Lee Louch Jr, 29, of Oelwein for Driving while License Suspended following traffic stop in the 100 block of W Charles.
At 2:29 p.m., on July 16, 2016 Oelwein Police arrested Steve Alan Euans, 60, of Oelwein. Euans was arrested on two Bremer County Warrants for Failure to Appear on Charges of Driving while license barred and Interference with Official Acts. This arrest followed an incident in the 400 block of 13th AV Nw.
Oelwein police investigated a Motor vehicle accident in the 100 block of 1st Av nw at 10:32 p.m., a red 2004 Ford F250 driven by a juvenile collided with a home in the area. There were no injuries and the driver was cited with Failure to prove Security against Liability, Failure to have a valid license and Failure to Maintain Control.
On July 15, 2016 Oelwein Officers issued a citation to Ann Marie Kisner, age 25 for Failure to Abate Per Order for a property in the 200 block of 5th Avenue NE. This citation resulted from an abatement order previously served to Kisner.
On July 15, 2016 at 11:45 p.m., Oelwein Officers attempted to serve a Buchanan County Sheriff’s arrest warrant in the 10 block of 6th Avenue NE in Oelwein. Officers arrested Riley William Fritz, age 19 of Oelwein. The warrant was for Failure to Appear on an original charge of Driving While License Suspended.
