Release: Arson 2nd Degree – Arrest Made

The Oelwein Police Department has filed a criminal complaint with the courts charging Chris Edward
Westendorf, 57, with 2nd Degree Arson – Class C Felony. This criminal charge stems from a residential house fire on
Sunday, February 12, 2023. Mr. Westendorf is currently in custody at the Fayette County Jail from a previous arrest
for probation violation. The Oelwein Police Department and the Oelwein Fire Department were assisted by the
Iowa State Fire Marshall’s Office.

At 6:34 p.m. on February 15th, 2023, Oelwein Police arrested Todd Wayne McCloud, 44, of Oelwein. McCloud was arrested in the 10 block of 5th St NW on a Buchanan County warrant for Probation Violation. 

Oelwein Police investigated a motor vehicle accident at East Charles and 1st Ave at 3:05 p.m. on February 9th, 2023. A Ford Edge driven by Dawn Ledesma collided with a Kenworth truck driven by Travis Michels. Initial estimates of damage were $1500 to the vehicle driven by Ledesma and $1500 to the vehicle driven by Michels. Michels was cited for Failure to Obey Traffic Control Device. The Oelwein Police were assisted by the Oelwein Fire Department and Mercy Oelwein Ambulance.

At 5:08 p.m. on February 9th, 2023, Oelwein Police arrested Aaron David Elledge, 46, of Arlington, Elledge was arrested on charges of Possession of Controlled Substance (3rd or subsequent offense) - felony, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - simple misdemeanor. This arrest was made after a citizens report of a suspicious person in the 1100 block of 1st St SE.

At 1:47 a.m. on February 11th, 2023, Oelwein Police arrested Nicole Marie Harris, 36, of Tipton, Harris was arrested on a charge of Public Intoxication - simple misdemeanor. This arrest was made following a report of a disturbance in the 10 block 1st St SW.

At 7:57 p.m. on February 12th, 2023, Oelwein Police arrested Chris Edward Westendorf, 57, of Oelwein. Westendorf was arrested in the 400 block of 4 1/2 St SW on a Fayette County warrant for Violation of Probation.

Oelwein Police investigated a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of 3rd St SE and Rock Island Road at 12:02 p.m. on January 30th, 2023. A Ford Fusion driven by Taylor Otto collided with a Toyota Avalon driven by Larry Woods. Initial estimates of damage were $10,000 to the vehicle driven by Otto and $10,000 to the vehicle driven by Woods. The Oelwein Police Department was assisted by Mercy Oelwein Ambulance and the Oelwein Fire Department.

 At 8:40 p.m. on February 5th, 2023, Oelwein Police arrested Danielle Ashley Salladay, 30, of Oelwein. Salladay was arrested on a charge of Domestic Abuse Assault (1st offense) - simple misdemeanor. This arrest was made following a report of a disturbance in the 100 block of 6th Ave SE. 

At 8:42 p.m. on February 1st, 2023, Oelwein Police arrested Meghan Renae Conrad, 23, of Oelwein. Conrad was arrested in the 900 block of 1st Ave NE on a Fayette County warrant for an original charge of Domestic Abuse Assault.

At 10:14 a.m. on January 30th, 2023, Oelwein Police arrested Gary Leroy Cummings, 49, of Oelwein. Cummings was arrested on a charge of Possession of Controlled Substance (marijuana) - serious misdemeanor. This arrest was made following a traffic stop in the 10 block of 10th St SW.

At 9:32 p.m. on January 29th, 2023, Oelwein Police arrested Jason J Laurie, 43, of Oelwein. Laurie was arrested on charges of Possession of Controlled Substance (3rd or subsequent) - felony, Public Intoxication - simple misdemeanor, and Interference with Official Acts - simple misdemeanor. This arrest was made following a report of a vehicle stuck in the snow in the 300 block of 7th Ave SE.

At 12:20 a.m. on January 30th, 2023, Oelwein Police arrested Justin Michael Brewer, 36, of Oelwein. Brewer was arrested on charges of Disorderly Conduct (loud noise) - simple misdemeanor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - serious misdemeanor. This arrest was made following a report of a disturbance in the 400 block of 13th Ave NW. 

At 8:10 p.m. on January 25th, 2023, Oelwein Police arrested Beverly Jean Scott, 68, of Oelwein. Scott was arrested on a charge of Assault - simple misdemeanor. This arrest was made following a report of a disturbance in the 500 block of 5th Ave NE.

At 5:44 a.m. on January 26th, 2023, Oelwein Police arrested Philip Daniel Trevino, 31, of Oelwein. Trevino was arrested on a charge of Domestic Abuse Assault - aggravated misdemeanor. This arrest was made following a report of a disturbance in the 900 block of 1st Ave NE. 

At 3:21 p.m. on January 24th, 2023, Oelwein Police arrested Dakota Ray Curtis, 36, of Oelwein. Curtis was arrested in the 500 block of North Frederick Ave on a Fayette County warrant for Violation of Probation.

At 10:08 p.m. on January 24th, 2023, Oelwein Police arrested Pamela Jean Haun, 65, of Oelwein. Haun was arrested on charges of Possession of Controlled Substance (marijuana - 1st offense) - serious misdemeanor, Unlawful Possession of Prescription Drugs - serious misdemeanor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - simple misdemeanor. This arrest was made following a report of a disturbance in the 10 block of 1st Ave SE.
