Last October Oelwein Officer Ted Phillips organized a Haunted House at the old library here in Oelwein to raise money for the Oelwein Youth Football League. The one night event was a big success, raising $1200 for the league. Randy Myott accepted the donation for the football league on April 28th, 2014 to use for the up-coming season. Officer Phillips is planning on organizing another Haunted House this October.

On April 25, 2014 at 5:15 p.m., Oelwein officers cited Mikeal Dean Lewin, age 46, of Oelwein, on a charge of Driving While License Suspended.
On April 24, 2014 at 12:15 p.m., Oelwein Officers were called to a business in the 100 block of 2nd Street SE for a reported shoplifter. Officers arrested Sheryl Lynne Walker, age 47 of Oelwein, for Theft 5th Degree, a Simple Misdemeanor.
At 1:50 p.m, on April 24, 2014 Oelwien Officers were called to a business in the 100 block of 2nd Street SE for a reported shoplifter. Officers arrested Kathleen Jo Boies, age 62 of Oelwein on a charge of Theft 5th Degree, a Simple Misdemeanor.
On April 24, 2014 at 11:30 p.m., Oelwein Officers arrested Joseph Ralph Winders, age 28 of Oelwein on a charge of Driving While License Suspended, a Simple Misdemeanor. Winders was also cited for Improper Use of Registration and Failure to Have Insurance.
On April 23, 2014 at 7:38 p.m., Oelwein Officers were called to the 1200 block of Hwy 150 for a one vehicle property damage accident. A gray 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan driven by Kevin A Houlton of Oelwein struck a deer. Officers estimated over $1500 damage to Houlton vehicle.
Oelwein Police are investigating a theft complaint in the 600 block 1st Ave NE. Oelwein Police received a theft complaint at 4:08 p.m. on April 23, 2014. This incident remains under investigation.
On April 22, 2014 at 2:30 p.m., Oelwein Officers arrested Domanick Ray Fowlkes, age 20, of Oelwein on a Fayette County Sheriff’s Office warrant, original charges assault with a weapon.
On April 21, 214 at 8:45 p.m., Oelwein Officers stopped a vehicle which was driving in an erratic manner in the 10 block of North Frederick. Officers arrested Rocky Dean Millard, age 22, of Oelwein on a charge of Driving While License Suspended, a Simple Misdemeanor. Millard was also cited for Unsafe Backing.
On April 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., Oelwein Officers were called to a business in the 1300 block of south Frederick. Officers arrested Nathan Burco Givant, age 17, of Oelwein on a charge of Theft 5th, a Simple Misdemeanor.
Oelwein Police are investigating a theft complaint in the 10 block 1st Ave SE. Oelwein Police received a theft complaint at 10:33 p.m. on April 18, 2014. This incident remains under investigation.
Oelwein Police are investigating a criminal mischief complaint in the 900 block East Charles St. Oelwein Police received a criminal mischief complaint at 6:28 p.m. on November 18, 2014. This incident remains under investigation.
On April 15, 2014 at 9:35 p.m., Oelwein Officers were called to the 900 block of South Frederick Avenue for a verbal dispute. The dispute was mediated and officers cited Zane Dale Hutchens, age 15, of Oelwein for Possession of Tobacco Underage.
On April 15, 2014 at 5:00 a.m., Oelwein Officers encountered a suspicious vehicle in the 300 block of 13th Avenue SW. Officers obtained consent to search the vehicle from the vehicle owner and arrested both the driver and the passenger of the vehicle. Officers arrested Barbara Sue Shaffer, age 44 of Oelwein on charges of Possession of Methamphetamine 3rd Offense, a Class “D” Felony and Possession of Paraphernalia, Simple Misdemeanor, and Todd Alan Bartels, age 48 of Manchester for Possession of Methamphetamine, a Serious Misdemeanor and Possession of Paraphernalia, Simple Misdemeanor.
On April 11, 2014 at 10:30 p.m., Oelwein Officers responded to the 200 block of 2nd Avenue SE in Oelwein for a disturbance. Officers served Joseph Robert Hedgman, age 20, of Oelwein with a complaint for Disturbing the Public Quiet.
