At 12:23 Pm on May 5, 2015 Oelwein Police cited and released Casey Eric Knight, 23, of Sidell, IL. Knight was cited for Theft in the 5th Degree-Simple Misdemeanor, following an incident in the 200-blk of 10th St SE.
Oelwein police investigated a motor vehicle accident in the 100 block of 1st Ave SE at 12:00 PM on May 3rd, 2015. A white, 2002 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Tyler Christensen collided with a red, 2014 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Lloyd Ratchford. Initial estimates of damages were $4,000 to the vehicle driven by Christensen and $6,500 to the vehicle driven by Ratchford. Charges are pending. The Oelwein police were assisted by Mercy Oelwein ambulance.
Oelwein police investigated a motor vehicle accident in the 300 block of W Charles Street at 12:15 AM on May 4th, 2015. A blue, 1998 Ford Taurus driven by Barbara Griffiths collided with the viaduct. Griffith was cited for failure to maintain control. This accident is still under investigation. The Oelwein police were assisted by the Mercy Oelwein ambulance.
On May 2, 2015 at 7:15 p.m., Oelwein Officers received a report of juveniles smoking in the area of the 300 block of 6th Avenue SW in Oelwein. Officers cited Ian Nathaniel Morgan, age 14 of Oelwein, for Possession of Tobacco Underage, a Simple Misdemeanor.
On May 3, 2015 at 12:45 a.m., Oelwein Officers stopped a vehicle in the 10 block of 5th Avenue SW for a traffic infraction. Officers referred the passenger, Sara Lynn Hamblin, age 16 of Hazleton, to Juvenile Court Authorities for Possession Of Alcohol Under the Legal Age.
Oelwein Officers were called to the 200 block of 3rd Avenue NW on May 3, 2015 at 4:30 a.m., for a reported disturbance. Officers arrested Linda Marie Lau, age 42 of Maynard, for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Interference With Official Acts, both Simple Misdemeanors.
On May 3, 2015 at 6:00 p.m., Oelwein Officers responded to an assault in the 100 block of South Frederick Avenue in Oelwein. Officers arrested Humberto Catalino Renteria-Martinez, aged 42 of Oelwein on a charge of Sexual Abuse in the 3rd Degree, a Class “C” Felony.
On May 4, 2015 at 3:10 a.m., Oelwein Officers attempted to stop a vehicle heading south bound at a high rate of speed on highway 150. Officers did stop the vehicle and arrested and charged the driver, Dean Adelbert Stone II, age 38 of Oelwein with Driving While License Revoked and Failure to Refile SR22 Insurance, both Serious Misdemeanors. Stone was also issued additional citations for a speed violation and Failure to Yield to an Emergency Vehicle.
On May 1, 2015 at 9:01 PM, Oelwein Police served a citation to Adam Michael Butters, 35, of Oelwein, for Failure to Abate Nuisance at 22 4th Av Ne.
On May 1, 2015 at 9:23 PM, Oelwein Police served a citation to Shawn Aaron Louis Rocha, 33, of Oelwein for Failure to Abate Nuisance at 26 6th Av Ne
At 1:35 AM on May 2, 2015 Oelwein Police arrested Jacob James Victor Miller, 16, of Oelwein. Miller was arrested on charges of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia-Simple Misdemeanor and Possession of a Controlled Substance-Serious Misdemeanor. This arrest was made following a traffic stop in the 10-blk 7th ST SE.
On April 30th, 2015, at approximately 6:25 p.m. the Oelwein Police Department received a third party report of a suspicious person and vehicle in the 1300 block of South Frederick. The reporting party advised that a friend reported a male subject, in a white van, acting suspicious and possibly photographing her. Upon investigation it was discovered that the male subject was a transport service for the Amish and that he had transported several Amish persons to the area and he was waiting for those persons to be ready to return to Wisconsin. It was further discovered that due to a recent medical procedure, this person had to hold their phone in a manner that they could see the messages clearly. This subject was cooperative with police and there was no evidence observed that would indicate that he was photographing people.
On April 28, 2015 at 9:40 p.m., Oelwein Officers were called to the 300 block of 3rd Avenue SE in Oelwein to check on a reported suspicious vehicle. Officers located the vehicle and occupants and arrested Felicia Mae Klein, age 27 of Hazleton on a Fayette County Sheriff’s Office warrant, original charges of Probation Violation for Dangerous Drugs.
At 7:40 pm on April, 26th, 2015, Oelwein Police cited and released Ernestine Marie Vance, 68, of Oelwein. Vance was cited for Theft in the 5th Degree-Simple Misdemeanor, following an incident reported in the 100 Block of West Charles.
On April 23, 2015 at 11:20 a.m., Oelwein Officers responded to a business in the 100 block of South Frederick for a reported shoplifter. Officers located and charged suspect, Michale Tyree Jefferson, age 18 of Waterloo, on a charge of Theft 5th Degree, a Simple Misdemeanor.
At 11:56 p.m. on April 22rd, 2015, Oelwein police cited and released Cathy Lynn Wright, 55, of Oelwein. Wright was cited for driving while license suspended – a simple misdemeanor, following a traffic stop in the 700 block of South Frederick Avenue.
At 10:45 pm on April 21, 2015 Oelwein Police arrested Daniel Scott Padgett, 37, of Oelwein. Padgett was arrested on a Fayette County Warrant for an original charge of Domestic Abuse Third Offense.
At 11:22 pm on April 21, 2015 Oelwein Police arrested Larry Edwin Shannon, 49, of Oelwein. Shannon was arrested for Driving while License Barred-Aggravated Misdemeanor, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia-Simple Misdemeanor and Interference with Official Acts-Simple Misdemeanor. This arrest was made following a traffic stop in the 700 block of 1st Avenue SW.
On April 20, 2015 at 4:25 p.m., Oelwein Officers were called to a business in the 10 block of 1st Avenue SE in Oelwein, for a report of a suspected shoplifter. Officers arrested Dwight James Davis, age 43 of Oelwein on a charge of Theft 5th Degree, a Simple Misdemeanor.
On April 21, 2015 at 12:40 a.m., Oelwein Officers performed a traffic stop in the 1 block of 1st Avenue SE in Oelwein. Officers cited and released the driver of the vehicle, Megan Elise Owens, age 22 of Fredericksburg, on a charge of Driving While License Suspended, a Simple Misdemeanor.
