The Oelwein Police Department is presently taking steps to inform and
educate the community about the need for improved police facilities.
For more than two years, the City of Oelwein has been researching
options to remedy the situation of inadequate space in a facility,
that a December of 2010 space needs study report states,
“A quick tour of the department reveals several issues that are
potentially dangerous to personnel and raise questions of
potential liability issues for the City in operational procedures
and investigation security procedures. These issues are the result
of inadequate space to properly segregate functions.”
In an effort to further inform the public of these issues and the need
to improve the facilities, the department is requesting any
community group, community club, coffee group or neighborhood
that wishes to hear more about the issues; please contact
Administrative Assistant Kris McGrane, 319-283-4311,
to schedule a time for Chief Jeremy Logan to discuss
the matter with them.
